New Crestron touchscreens

Crestron TSW-1060 running the native Sonos app

Crestron have just announced the launch of their latest generation of in-wall panels. The form-factor is identical to previous generations of the TSW series, mounting options are the same and they are powered over Ethernet as before. Known as the X60 series and available in the same 5, 7 and 10-inch versions as before.

So, what's new?

Huge increase in processing power

These panels have had a huge bump in power and will be even quicker than previous versions, plus have the ability to run apps as described below.

Native Sonos integration

Crestron has partnered with Sonos and offers some great integration options already; however, these new panels take it another step forwards and run the full Sonos app on the panel (see above).

Ambient light-sensing

Panels now adjust to light levels in the room, so they are not distractedly bright.

Buttons or no buttons?

The side buttons are now backlit capacitive buttons, so can be illuminated as required (or not at all for a sleek look).

Camera and microphone (optional)

The panels now come with an optional camera and microphone for intercom applications and the ability to view cameras from other panels.

Much more information here.

All in all, this looks to be a great evolution of these panels. Shipping December 1st in the US, mid-January in the UK. Pricing TBC.
